One night I was walking home through Adelaide city, South Australia, when a pleasant looking man holding a clipboard approached me and inquired if he could ask me 3 questions. I said "sure". Little did I know that those 3 questions were going to change the whole course of my life forever. The questions were:
What would you like to be ?
What would you like to do ?
and What would you like to have ?
After answering the questions the best I could, he invited me to do a free personality test at the local Scientology Organization. I said, "why not, sounds interesting". The test proved to be very accurate and pin-pointed exact areas in my life that I was having trouble with. I was amazed at this accuracy and thought "these people really know something about the human mind". I became more interested. I brought a book called Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health and the following day read a chapter called "The reactive mind". This chapter totally blew me away. I couldn't believe how exactly right this explanation was of how the mind works and works against your best interests sometimes. Its like one of those things you always knew was that particular way but you could never figure out how to put it into words, and someone had finally written it down. And you think " I always knew it was just like that and so simple too", when you finally find out. That day I went and tried some Dianetic auditing(counseling) as described in the book. Auditing was just sitting down with another person who asked you to remember things from the past and to look at them again. It follows a very exact procedure but is basically very simple. I had five hours of this and felt much better afterwards, calmer and happier. From that point I have never looked back.
I next did a program called the Purification Rundown. This was a very intensive routine of vitamins, exercise and spending 5 hours a day in a sauna, sweating out toxins, chemicals, drugs and radiation that my body had absorbed in its short 24 years. During the first three days in the sauna, the towels I sat on went almost totally black as residues of nine years in the motor trade sweated out of every pore. After six days "sun burn" turned on for an hour. My body went red and itchy except for where my T shirt and shorts had been. It then turned off as quickly as it began. I was amazed, Could this really be radiation I had absorbed coming out again ? The same thing happened for the next four or five days, the only difference being different white bands from the different types of clothes I had been wearing at the time I got a sun burn. A whole lifetime of radiation was bleeding back out of my body. I also went through long periods of drowsiness as what I presumed was residues of anesthetics and drugs were sweated from my system. After eighteen days I was finished everyone takes a different time I felt much lighter I could think much more clearly and could concentrate much better. I felt happier and needless to say my body was very clean.
I then studied a course about how to study. I learned what stopped people from learning, a how to overcome those things, really understand things for real and actually USE whatever you learn and not just memorize things. I cleared up literally hundreds of things I had misunderstood during life, at school or anywhere else. I also had some more counseling and cleared away upsets from the past that were affecting me in present time and were inhibiting my full potential and happiness.
In the first six months of starting in Scientology my IQ increased from 95 to 145 and boy could I feel it. I was aware of so much more around me - It was like someone had taken blinders off me. Life had become a game and a challenge, not something to endure and suffer through.
